Background Information

Physical: 5'2, 124 lbs
Personality: All Malverians have a touch of conceit, but this one got themselves a second helping, and then some. He thinks magic and strategy are far superior to those little brutes wriggling in the dirt with their swords and what ho, and he looks down on anyone he doesn't think is as smart as he is, in a condescending "those poor peasants" sort of way. He values knowledge above all else, and despises people who remain willfully ignorant. Although he gets passionate about things he's interested in, his energy level drops to absolute zero when it comes to anything he considers "labor." He believes that magic and science should be used for the good of all, and hates exploitation of the weak.
His relationship skills are tenuous at best, and insults are the only language he speaks. He also loves the sound of his own voice a bit too much, especially when he's "educating" people. Tends to be a bossy dick. Honestly, though, it's not like he avoids people—on the contrary, he enjoys letting them know how much room for improvement they have—it's just that, tragically, people tend to avoid him (and for good reason).

History: Ariel had a pretty average Malverian childhood—excelled in school, was interested in magic, got into trouble for insulting his classmates, etc. He enjoyed the outdoors too much to be a library scholar, but he was far too lazy to be any sort of physical fighter. From a young age, he was fascinated by the Valrian ruins and the vast technological genius of these ancient people, and when he got into the Academy Historia, he promptly chose to work in the archaeological department. He currently studies the magical properties of as-of-yet unknown runes, and spends a lot of time in digging sites at the ruins. Rune theory is his one true passion, and even though he complains about the physical labor and low pay Vadonna knows how much, he actually enjoys it immensely.
Both his parents were very traditional library scholars, and they don't understand their child's passion for getting in all that muck, although it's not like they're not proud of him. He has twin younger siblings who are both twelve and get in heaps of trouble (gods know where they get it from). The younger twin (Elise) also failing her classes, and he really doesn't know where that comes from; he tutors her a lot, but both of them are quite resigned to tossing away any hopes of her becoming a scholar. It's probably a good thing that she prefers hitting people to books.
